This weekend, those of us in the United States are celebrating Thanksgiving, and the unofficial beginning of the holiday season. Thanksgiving tends to be associated with overeating, football, shopping, and hopefully, family.
I am taking time this weekend to be aware of the many people and things in my life for which I am thankful. Here, particularly, I want to note my gratitude for the people I have met through dancing. I've discovered ballroom dancers, on the whole, to be welcoming and friendly people. Many have become friends; some have married, some have moved, some have passed away. We've shared triumphs of executing new steps, joy at studio parties, laughter and fellowship at dinners and on road trips, nerves at performances, and top secret instructor information that no one's supposed to know.
I am eternally grateful to have met you all, to know you a little, and dance with you a lot! You are my dance family, and I love you all. You are a huge part of how "learning ballroom dance" has had such a profound impact on my life; on who I am. Thank you!
